Artist’s Statement

My work explores the relationship between light, emotion, and human presence through portraiture and figurative imagery. Centered on quiet, contemplative moments, the compositions evoke a sense of stillness while suggesting deeper narratives beneath the surface.

Depictions of automobiles and landscapes extend this inquiry, situating the figure within both intimate and transitional spaces. Natural elements recur as subtle symbols of growth, fragility, and resilience.

Working with graphite, charcoal, and acrylic paint, each piece is developed through a process of layered mark-making and tonal variation. This approach allows for a nuanced balance between softness and intensity, where contrast and restraint shape the emotional atmosphere of the work.

Light and form are treated as primary expressive elements, carrying a quiet but deliberate weight throughout the compositions.

My work remains grounded in observation, with an emphasis on mood, presence, and the poetic potential of everyday imagery.
